You have to be willing to go soft. Going soft is different from something that happens to you. You produce it. You live it. The prerequisites for going soft: the openness to experience events and the willingness to be changed by them...Softness is more important than outcome. When the outcome drives the softness we will only ever go to where we've already been. If softness drives outcome we may not know where we're going, but we will know we want to be there.... Ask soft questions. Going soft is fuelled by desire and innocence. Assess the answer with softness, not the question. learning throughout your life at the rate of an infant. Collaborate. The soft space between people working together is filled with fluffiness, comfort, resolution, exhilaration, delight and vast creative potential... Instant coffee breaks, trailer rides, soft spaces. Soft growth often happens outside of where we intend it to. In the interstitial spaces, what Dr. Seuss calls "the soft waiting place". Sylvie Gilbert, Nelson Hendricks and Francois Dion organised Oasis, a show about leisure with all of the infrastructure of a holiday- the parties, chats, lunches, airport arrivals - but with no actual vacation. Apparently it has been hugely successful and has spawned many ongoing collaborations. The Soft Show is exhibited at "Oasis". Oasis is not an instant coffee event. www.sbca.qc.ca |
